A Mac Nab challenge is a Scottish Tradition which consists in the following: to stalk a red deer, shoot a brace of grouse and catch a salmon all within one day. This tradition, derived from the famous novel by John Buchan under the title ”John Macnab”, is organised every year in September in Scotland exclusively for ladies.

The day begins at dawn with an experienced ghillie to catch a salmon. This is followed by a quick transfer to the heather covered mountains, to stalk a red deer stag and finally to get a brace of grouse under the guidance and advice of an experienced stalker and gamekeeper.

For falconer guests, the grouse can be caught with a falcon. For those who do not have experience in fly fishing or shooting, some training is organized prior to the challenge.

Besides Scotland, Mac Nab Challenges are being organised in England and abroad with local game species (e.g. Southern Mac Nab, Macscandi, Macargentinian, Macafrican… )
